Twitter Is Profitable! Finally!
I don’t know about you but the fact that Twitter is now profitable is a weight off my shoulders. Over the years we’ve seen these companies become a major force for changing the way people communicate. So, what if Twitter were to go under, wouldn’t that alter the lives of many. You bet it would! It would alter the lives of around 58 million people. That’s the number of people who have a presence on Twitter. Let’s say only half of those people are active, that’s still over 25 million. You just can’t buy that many impressions within a reasonable marketing and advertising budget.
You can go the Business Week article to read the announcement for yourself but briefly, it says:
1. Twitter inked a multi-year deal with Google and Microsoft that is worth around $25 million
2. The deal makes tweets available to show up in searches on Google and Bing
3. This deal confirms that Twitter is a valuable entity and will be around for a while
4. Tweets will make searches even more content rich with up to the minute information from real people
The good news is that if you are using Twitter as a marketing tool your tweets might show up in Google more frequently than your website. I’m not a web analyst or anything but it seems to me that if a few thousand people are tweeting about you then that might show up in searches faster than if you are blogging or have a website. Are there any Google experts out there who can give us some insight on how tweets might be indexed?
My biggest question right now is what will happen to sites like search.twitter.com. I always advise my clients to use this type of site to search tweets. If you can search in Google and get a multi-layered result, why go through the extra trouble of having searches on other sites. It seems redundant.
The other problem that I see for business is this whole big brother (meaning customers) is really watching now. Who doesn’t use Google? Now, current customers and potential new customers might find out in real time what people think about your business. Moreover, what about people looking for jobs? Already, HR recruiters might look at Facebook or MySpace to determine if they want to hire a person. Will your tweets now be easy to obtain by recruiters just by doing a Google search?
What do you think? Could this be the best deal of the century? Or, will it be a huge headache for marketers and advertisers?

Ta for taking the time on this, I was looking all over for something similar, though this is just as helpful.
One of my favorite things about blogging is this community of bloggers. We aren’t cut-throat. We share successes and miseries. And when something works, we don’t keep it to ourselves – we want it to work for everyone. I love blogging and hope that it becomes full-time one day, but I enjoy the learning and growing (the journey) and am a very patient man.
I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
Okay, this is my first visit to your blog! We are a group of volunteers and starting a new initiative in a community in the same niche. Your blog provided us worthy info to work on. You have done a great job!

Just write like you’re talking to your friends. And soon, they will be.
I work in internet marketing on the product side, so it’s great to be able to gain more insight into how affiliates are choosing their products, though I strongly feel that you are a rare one who takes into consideration the needs of their visitors.
Great advice! Loyalty shouldn’t be underestimated. Too often, it’s taken for granted. In the long run, hard work doesn’t go unrewarded.

Starting new to twitter may be frustrating but when you genuinely use it as the important marketing tool it can be it will pay off in the long run. I consider twitter is a fantastic way to drive traffic to your site.
There is another good post about lots of traffic from Twitter with your Wordpress websites. Here it is: http://www.wordpressrobot.com/5-steps-to-becoming-highly-infectious-on-twitter
It seems that you’ve put a good amount of effort into your article and I want to see a lot more of these on the Internet these days. I sincerely got a quetch out of your post. I do not have a bunch to to say in reply, I only wanted to register to say terrific work.
Thanks for the complement. I’m with you about seeing better content in blogs.
Twitter does not provide link juice. Simply because of their amazingly high pagerank, your tweets and also your Twitter profile page can get on the first page of Google just with a simple linking strategy
Isn’t that great! Our work just got easier.
I discovered your blog on facebook groups. I just added you to my MSN News Reader. Keep up the good work pal! Look forward to reading more from you in the future.

You are a very smart person!
Well, thank you very much Joey. I’m blushing!
Twitter is basically a free social networking website where it allows members to send and also read messages that are called tweets. The tweets are available for a person’s follow to view, but the fantastic thing about twitter is that you can as well restrict the messages to certain groups or friends to see. And because of the fact that twitter is free and comfortable to use, a lot of people use them. People today are now taking advantage of Twitter by advertising their products or to advertise their businesses. You can even use Twitter to promote your web page or website in order for you to get targeted traffic flowing into your website and start making much money.
Interesting article. Were did you got all the information from…
Actually, Business Week is where I read all about it but mainly I check out certain sites daily looking for interesting topics. I generally like looking at Social Media Today and Alltop bot really good news sites. I also read other people’s blogs looking for insight.
Hi, Good post about Twitter. I think Twitter is going to be one of the better networks because of the fact that it is supported by so many industries. I also think when Twitter shows some of it’s new features, returning traffic will go up to show the real growth of the network. Keep up the great work!
We just can’t get around Twitter can we? I rather like that developers can see the value in writing programs that work with Twitter. I constantly find myself going to sites that help me search through Twitter. Fabulous.
It’s loads of fun. I do wish people would just leave comments so we can all have fun together! I simply have got to find a way for them to speak up! =)
I like the fun or talking to people too. So, BTW, thanks for your comment here. I think that the best way to get more people talking together in your network is to just keep talking yourself and to give valuable information to others. That’s seems to be the constant theme among all the industry experts.
The availability of Twitter and other social networking web sites, as well as the popularity of text messaging, have made short-form communication an ordinary reality. But expressing yourself declaratively in short messages containing 140-character max requires good writing skill.
I think writing short messages improves you writing skills too but I am hearing a lot of commentators say that they think just th opposite. I feel that it takes a special skill to be able to think critically enough to actually form an understandable thought in only 140 characters!
